GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS) TRAINING COURSE
USES AND APPLICATIONS
GPS has become a very useful tool in a myriad of fields. It is instrumental in increasing the efficiency of all kinds and means of data collection, monitoring of all movements in the earth and changes in land use patterns. It reduces time, and gives more accurate and efficient results.
In this respect, the Faculty of Forestry, University of Khartoum, conducts a five-day training course on GPS. The course will be conducted at the Faculty of Forestry Conference Room and GIS laboratory during the period 20--24 May 2012. The course offers basic information on GPS and its uses and applications in natural resources including agriculture, forest resources, rangelands, animal production and veterinary. It contains introduction, history of GPS, components of GPS, mapsource software and GPS uses and application in natural resource.
Specific Course Objectives:
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify Global Positioning System
- Use several types of GPS devices
- Use the program device and draw maps
Target Group: Researchers, NGO workers, Technicians, University teachers, Graduate students, Professionals and Employees in all disciplines of natural resources.
