About the Department

Department of  Silviculture
 
The department was established in 1993 within the framework of promoting the then Department of forestry in the Faculty of Agriculture to a full fledged Faculty of Forestry. The department engulfs eight staff members with PhD degree (among which four professors, one Associate Professor and two Assistant Professors); in addition to three lecturers and two teaching assistants. The other working force consists of two technicians (Both holding BSc Forestry), two laboratory adjoins and one labourer.
Tasks and particularities of the department:
This department is endeavoured with fields of forest establishment, rearing and production including supervision for teaching basic and specialized relevant courses. It contributes in training and qualifying students at BSc and postgraduate levels (MSc and PhD); it is involved in running scientific research through the works of staff members and postgraduate students who are affiliated to it. The department is responsible for planning and executing a field trip for the students of the second academic level annually; also, its staff members participate in the Working Plan (a graduation project) for the final year students. In addition, the members of the department are arduously involved in the various activities of the Faculty and the University, and besides serving the Sudanese society.
Dr. Daldoum Mohammed Ahmed
